With Maison Martin Margiela it’s always hit or miss for me. Either I absolutely adore his shoes or I am totally turned off by them. These studded wedge booties fall into the first category. I love the illusion wedge, it looks so cute and clever, don’t you think? But would I be willing to shell out $890 for them? No, not really.

I feel so sorry for shoeaholics of times gone by. If only they could have lived to see the unparalleled creativity of shoe design today. Never before in history have there been so many truly unique, funky hybrids, like the Cut-Out Boots by Maison Martin Margiela. What a belle of a boot! Part demure d’Orsay, part go-go boot.
