Real vs. Steal – Gucci Cat Eye Sunglasses

Lately, I’ve been craving a pair of cat eye sunglasses like ca-ha-razy and I had very specific expectations about how they should look like. I knew I wanted them in brown tortoise with oversized degradé lenses and the cat eye form shouldn’t be too extreme either. So after checking out the latest sunglass fashion offerings, I’ve decided that this pair of Gucci sunnies was the most perfect pair of sunglasses I have ever seen in my life! Well, perfect in every way except for one thing, of course. The price. $270? Whoa, big bummer here!

Alloy “Ivy” Cat-Eye Sunglasses

Update (04/24/2012): Came across another budget-friendly steal alternative which is available at Alloy. Not too thrilled about the rhinestones, but luckily they’re barely noticeable.

Kate Spade “Shawna” Cat Eye Sunglasses

If you’re looking for a great pair of sunnies in the style of the Gucci version above, but don’t want to spend more than $150+, how about these lovely shades by Kate Spade instead? They’re very similar to the Gucci sunglasses, but cost only $123.75.

Sunglass Warehouse SW Cat Eye Style #1363

I know these cat eye sunnies by Sunglass Warehouse are no perfect match, but they’ll give you the same look as all the key elements are there (Cat Eye? Check! Tortoise? Check. Brown Gradient Lenses? Check!). Only these cost less than 10% than their big original Gucci sister. Can’t argue that price! Available in 4 colors.

A few days ago Gossip Girl actress Blake Lively helped making cupcakes for a good cause at Sprinkles in NYC. The blonde beauty looked stylish and festive in a cream sheer button-down blouse which she paired with a stunning gold Gucci leather skirt from the Resort 2012 collection. I’m not sure where she was headed with the dark green Brian Atwood Maniac pumps, but since I’m really loving Blake’s upper ensemble I’m willing to overlook her shoe choice faux-pas. Check out our budget-friendly take on Blake’s look below and let us know what you think!

A few weeks ago Olivia Palermo sported a look I found quite lovely. The stylish socialite wore a navy Topshop polka dot skirt with tan Gucci sandals, a blush Mulberry bag and an ivory knit top. Check out our budget-friendly version of Olivia’s look below and let us know what you think.

I’m really enjoying the look of this sleek Gucci Bamboo leather tote! Love the bamboo handle and of course the classic Gucci tassels. I also love that the bag comes with an extra strap just in case you get tired carrying it around your arm. Yet, the price tag is a little steep for me. If you’re willing to pay the $4.200 by all means go ahead! You’ll definitely receive compliments. But, if you want a steal we have one for you!

Melie Bianco “Zoe” Bamboo-Accent Satchel

I’m not quite sold on the colors of the Melie Bianco handbags, yet if you’re looking for that bamboo look of the Gucci I do think the handbag gives you that. If I was to get any of the colors I’d get the yellow!

Lany Handbags “Nadya” Top Handle Bag

The “Nadya” handbag by Lany Handbags is similar in color to the authentic Gucci. Yet I hate the fact that it’s missing the tassels and the bamboo handle. It’s a cute little handbag for less than $50, but I think I’m going to stick with the Melie Bianco “Zoe” Bamboo-Accent Satchel for my steal! This one is available in black or beige.

Gucci‘s S/S 2011 collection was some sort of style epiphany for me. I’d even go as far to say it was one of the best S/S collections I’ve ever seen. I loved everything from this collection: the colors, the fabrics, the silhouettes, the accessories and of course, the shoes! Gucci’s “Malika” strappy sandals sure do look luxe. The gold piping, the smooth velvet straps, the pin-thin gold stiletto heel. Perfection! Except for the not-so-nice price of $995.

ALDO “Boulger” T-Strap Sandals

If you love the look of Gucci, but don’t have the funds to support your designer obsession, you might want to opt for these more wallet-friendly ALDO heels instead. They’re not a dupe and definitely have a few differences, but the overall look still screams Gucci to me. Available in orange, camel & gold.
