I’ve always been kind of obsessed with everything red and sparkly. I call it the Dorothy complex. What’s not to love about a glitzy heel in the epitome of all statement colors? It’s quite rare to find a designer who does not only great clothes, but also great shoes. The genius that is Alexander McQueen certainly belongs into this category. I always look forward to what he’s coming up with season after season.

His shoe designs are sometimes crazy, sometimes painfully cute or edgy or just badass like these grommet slingback booties below. But they are always unique. There is ONE thing that bugs me about his shoes though: the PRICE, of course! Despite being on sale, you’d still have to shell out more than $600 to own these kickass heels. Sadly, this is no option for me.

Before I fell in love with Alexander McQueen‘s creativity and power of imagination I loved his signature laser-cut tailoring which I guess is one of the many reasons why his designs are a success both artistically and commercially. But as much as I love me some Alexander McQueen, I’m sure you and I know better things to do with $5.000 than to spend them on 1 piece of clothing. You know, all those silly things like paying rent, buying food, saving for your retirement, etc. Boo-ring and so not fashionable, but unfortunately a little more important than a cool leather jacket.

And dare I say that Miss Hayek (I refuse to call her Mrs. Hayek-Pinault!) looked a-friggin’-mazing in an amethyst Alexander McQueen crepe dress paired with nude YSL Tribtoos (yup, they’re still going strong) and the obligatory “No paparazzi, please!” Ray-Ban aviator sunnies. I can’t even tell you just how much I adore this dress and how I love it on Salma. The vibrant color, the fact that it’s Alexander McQueen, how it hugs Salma’s delicious curves… a truly stunning look for the actress (♥)
