Real vs. Steal – Alexander McQueen Crystal Embellished Platform Pumps
I’ve always been kind of obsessed with everything red and sparkly. I call it the Dorothy complex. What’s not to love about a glitzy heel in the epitome of all statement colors? You can wear the most boring outfit; throw on a pair of red pumps and voilà you’re the center of attention. These red crystal embellished pumps by Alexander McQueen are haunting me. As if I didn’t have enough shoe obsessions already! Truly tempting, but the price is nothing but a nightmare.

P.S.: Available in black at Zappos for $897 (sale price!).
Martinez Valero “Opal” Jeweled Peep-toe Pumps
Martinez Valero doesn’t have the biggest shoe portfolio, but oh boy does he deliver with the few styles he has in petto. Remember those gorgeous blue satin pumps à la Manolo Blahnik? Yeah, that was him and these gorgeous jeweled red peep-toe pumps are his newest creation. Not as delicate if compared to the real McQueen heels, but still a wonderful and budget-friendly alternative. There are only very few sizes left, but I just had to tell you about these gems. Make sure to check out both Zappos & Endless to see if they have your size stocked.

Real vs. Steal – Alexander McQueen Striped Leather Pumps
UPDATE: This post has been updated on January 03, 2010. Scroll down to see the new add.
Alexander McQueen is one of my favorite designers of all time and I frequently find myself falling in love with almost everything he designs. And these fabulous Alexander McQueen striped leather pumps at NET-A-PORTER were absolutely no exception. The peep-toe pumps originally retailed for $805, then went on sale for still-not-very-affordable $603.75 and are now completely sold out.

Celebrities Love Alexander McQueen
Thandie Newton loves British designers and showed her love for McQueen by wearing the striped pumps to the London premiere of Run, Fat Boy, Run back in 2007. Jennifer Aniston wore the same pumps together with a beautiful black dress to the Marley & Me press conference in December 2008.

Jessica Simpson “Delsi” Pumps
Shell out $73.60 and these McQueen look-a-likes by Jessica Simpson are yours. The upper material is suede and the heel of the pump is thicker, but it’s still a great alternative to the real deal.

Aldo “Rabenhorst” Peep Toe Pumps
This McQueen knockoff by Aldo is a very close match to the original pumps. The heel is a bit thicker and not as high though. Plus, the material is patent faux leather.

Daisy Fuentes “Lala” Pumps
Of all the budget versions, these pumps by Daisy Fuentes are my personal favorites. They are the most identical ones to the original pair and the price is reasonable as well.

ASOS Contrast Peep Toe Slingbacks
Believe it or not, but I have found another Alexander McQueen knock-off pair and they cost only $18. The ASOS knockoffs are slingbacks not pumps, but otherwise look almost the same.

Real vs. Steal – Alexander McQueen “Faithful” Peep-toe Ankle Boots
UPDATE: This post has been updated on December 21, 2009. Scroll down to see the new add.
I wonder if – one fine day – I will be the happy owner of a pair of Alexander McQueen heels. I would LOVE to, but thinking that his shoes go for more than 1k per pair, I somehow doubt this is ever going to happen. Not with that kind of budget at least. Anyone out there bothering to tell me the secret of getting rich quick? My shoe addiction refuses to wait any longer to be satisfied.

Steve Madden “SERYNA” Peep-toe Ankle Boots
I love and hate Steve Madden. Hate because his collection is mostly based on other people’s creativity and LOVE because it makes being fashionable on a budget SO much easier without having to compromise the designer look of a shoe.
These Alexander McQueen knockoffs are almost identical, the only thing that’s different is that the zipper isn’t a skull shape, but everything else could pass as the original. The ankle boots are currently on pre-order and will be ready to ship in approx. 4 weeks. However I wouldn’t wait too long to order as this style is probably one of the first to sell out.

Celebrity Look 4 Less – Victoria Beckham in Alexander McQueen & Miu Miu
Back in March Victoria Beckham was rocking a dress from one of my favorite designers, Alexander McQueen, from one of my favorite collections of his, Resort 2009, with a pair of lustworthy Miu Miu whipstitch pumps, also one of my favorite shoes this year. The singer-turned-designer looked lovely in the striped column dress and now you can steal her look for a fraction of the price.

Real vs. Steal – Alexander McQueen Crystal Embellished Peep-toe Pumps
Everyone who follows this blog for a while should be aware of my everlasting love for everything Alexander McQueen – especially my love affair with his shoes. His creations are always so stunning and unique. Take these gorgeous white satin peep-toes for example. If I was to marry anytime soon, I would definitely choose these as my bridal shoes and feel like Cinderella in a fairy tale.

RSVP “Lovely” Satin Peep-toe Pumps
If the real McQueen crystal heels don’t fit within your wedding/shopping budget, go for these budget-friendly satin peep-toes by RSVP instead. They’re called “Lovely” and that’s exactly what they are. Absolutely lovely! I’m so, so, so in love. Now I know they do miss the front crystals, but everything else looks almost identical. And they come in an array of adorable colors such as baby blue and fuchsia, too. I cannot make up my mind which one is my favorite!

Real vs. Steal – Alexander McQueen Studded Platform Booties
UPDATE: This post has been updated on December 10, 2009. Scroll down to see the new add.
It’s quite rare to find a designer who does not only great clothes, but also great shoes. The genius that is Alexander McQueen certainly belongs into this category. I always look forward to what he’s coming up with season after season.
His shoe designs are sometimes crazy, sometimes painfully cute or edgy or just badass like these grommet slingback booties below. But they are always unique. There is ONE thing that bugs me about his shoes though: the PRICE, of course! Despite being on sale, you’d still have to shell out more than $600 to own these kickass heels. Sadly, this is no option for me.

Steve Madden “TUTORR” Slingback Booties
If you want to channel your inner rock chick as well, try these suede slingback booties by Steve Madden. The platform is higher (= easier to walk in) and the stiletto has been replaced with a cone heel, but otherwise they look practically the same. Also available in blue suede.

Bebe Belinda Slingback Grommet Bootie
Not digging the gold hardware or the suede? Bebe’s “Belinda” Grommet Booties might fit your bill then. They have silver instead of gold grommets and the platform is hidden. These have also been messed up with a cone heel though it’s not as extreme as on the Steve Madden version.

Designer Fashion 4 Less – Alexander McQueen Houndstooth Folded Jacket
Alexander McQueen’s Fall 2009 collection was pretty much quintessential McQueen. Part macabre Rocky Horror Picture Show, part British Elegance meets Perfect Tailoring. My feelings towards this collection were mixed and the clown make-up HORRIFIED me, but I found myself adoring a few of the presented pieces. Houndstooth was a key element in McQueen’s fall designs and the jacket below was part of my favorite McQueen ensemble from that collection.

BB Dakota “The Cibbs” Winter Coat
HOT DEAL: Get 15% OFF non-new arrival items! Use coupon code TFACE at checkout.
While this winter coat by BB Dakota isn’t strictly a knockoff, I’d say it’s at least inspired by the Alexander McQueen jacket above. I instantly fell in love with this coat and McQueen’s Fall 2009 collection was the first thing that came to my mind when I first saw it. It’s a timeless, feminine coat & ultra cute, too (the buttons, the belt, the voluminous hem *swoon*). Oh, and the price isn’t too shabby either for such a versatile fall/winter key item.

Celebrity Look 4 Less – Cate Blanchett’s & Michelle Obama’s Emerald Green Dress
You may not remember this summery green dress on Cate Blanchett and that’s probably because she wore it 4 years ago in 2005 to the Napoli Film Festival. The moment I saw Cate in this beautiful Alexander McQueen Fall 2005 dress it made such a big impact on me that I still remember it more than 4 years later. Her look was perfection and the emerald green silk dress looked divine against Cate’s fair complexion.
Everyone’s favorite First Lady, Michelle Obama, wore a similar dress when she presented the Gershwin Award for Lifetime Achievement which was given to Stevie Wonder. Mrs O’s emerald green dress was by Kai Milla, Stevie Wonder’s wife who also happens to be a designer, and I was mesmerized by Michelle’s elegant, chic look. It’s so refreshing to see some ladies in the authority world being brave enough to step outside the neutral color palette and wear a bold color.

In Rihanna’s Closet – Alexander McQueen, Alexander Wang, Brian Reyes & MiH Jeans
Rihanna has worn a multitude of fabulous things last week and I wanted to give you all a small update on her latest fab acquisitions. I loved her black Alexander McQueen killer zip up booties which she wore to Fred Segal on June 02, 2009. A few days before, Rihanna looked incredibly sexy in a one shouldered Alexander Wang LBD. On that same day Rihanna also sported a casual outfit by pairing a white Brian Reyes vest together with a blue MiH Jeans skinny jeans. Keep on going, RiRi!

But never was I lucky enough to find anything similar looking and I’ve given up hope to do so a long time ago. It was just in time that I stumbled upon a great pair of McQueen knockoffs that would make any Valentine’s Day outfit pop!

They look almost identical and come in three gorgeous colors and the best thing – they’re only $39! Yup! No joke, ladies. I guess this is what it feels like being in heaven… in shoe heaven that is. You could compliment the cuteness of these pumps with a romantic floral dress -OR- take the edgy route à la Taylor and don them with a micro LBD and black sheer tights.
