A few days ago Gossip Girl actress Blake Lively helped making cupcakes for a good cause at Sprinkles in NYC. The blonde beauty looked stylish and festive in a cream sheer button-down blouse which she paired with a stunning gold Gucci leather skirt from the Resort 2012 collection. I’m not sure where she was headed with the dark green Brian Atwood Maniac pumps, but since I’m really loving Blake’s upper ensemble I’m willing to overlook her shoe choice faux-pas. So I’m slightly undecided whether I like this gold metallic leather skirt by Marc by Marc Jacobs or not. I think it’s a little too flashy for my taste, but if this skirt tickles your fancy, it can be yours – for as little as $798. Yup, that’s quite a hefty price!

This skirt by River Island is more of the inspired by-kind rather than a complete knockoff (missing belt and different shape), but how often do you come across a mid-length metallic gold leather skirt? While doing my usual blog tour I discovered this great post by Refinery29 where they gave advice on the perfect outfit for a job interview and I loved the featured look so much I had to give it my own “budget look” spin. The combination of red, white and navy is so refreshing yet the outfit still looks work-appropriate and professional (I opted to include a knee-length skirt though). Especially great for any interviews in the creative department.
