The colorblock tube dress below was one of my favorite pieces from Alexander Wang‘s Spring 2009 collection, but at one point the dress became so popular that I was sick of seeing it every second day on the red carpet. Now that the overexposure has stopped, my love returned, but unfortunately the dress has sold out since. Not that I could afford it were it still available.

Wet Seal Colorblock Tube Dress
UPDATE (05/22/2011): Almost 2 years later I found another Alexander Wang dress lool-a-like by Wet Seal. It has a white top panel instead of a black one, but the rest is spot-on. And the dress is $22.50 only. What a deal! Click on the link below and navigate to the dresses section or enter style number “45241109” in the search field to find the Alexander Wang inspired dress on the website.

Atria Color Block Tube Dress
UPDATE (09/29/2009): Here’s another Alexander Wang tube dress knockoff for you. This one’s by Atria and it comes in many different other color combos as well.

Lipsy Asymmetric Colour Block Body-Con Dress
All the European Alexander Wang fans rejoice! Lipsy has a great knockoff dress retailing for £65. The material is different and the colorblocking isn’t in the exact same order, but it’s still a great look 4 less alternative.

Stella McCartney obviously was inspired by citrus fruits for her S/S 2011 collection because several of the pieces from the collection had this distinctive lemons/oranges/lime print. I admit it kind of reminded me of my Grandma’s kitchen curtains at first, but with the right accessories (waist belt & wooden bangles!) and attitude (I-so-don’t-care-what-you-think-of-my-outfit!) I think this dress could be rocked & rocked well. However, I don’t quite see myself shelling out more than $800 for such a difficult dress; plus, let’s just say the shape of this dress is… improvable.

Limited Edition White Lemon Print Dress
So this summer dress by Limited Edition might not be a dupe for the Stella McCartney dress because it has a different shape and a slightly different fruit print, but the inspiration behind this dress is clearly visible I think. And shhhht, but in this case I prefer the steal dress because a) it’s so much more affordable and b) because the shape is much more flattering to a woman’s body. Dorothy Perkins ships worldwide btw (shipping to the US is £7.50 only).

It’s Spring, Spring, Spring! Over the moon happy that the weather has finally decided to warm up. S/S fashion is so much more fun! As every month I’ve put together an imaginary shopping cart of my current obsessions from Shopbop. Oh dear, I just love their selection. Tell me what you think of my picks for May.
