Self-Portrait. How could we have possibly missed out on covering this new and super coveted brand for so long? Sorry about that, folks. But before we head into showing you our best Self-Portrait steal finds, here are a few facts about the contemporary fashion label: it was founded in 2013 by Han Chong (also former creative director of Three Floor) and quickly gained red carpet and social media buzz shortly after, landing dress gigs with celebrities such as Reese Witherspoon and Miranda Kerr as well as personal style bloggers like Chiara Ferragni (The Blonde Salad) and Kristina Bazan (Kayture). The signature aesthetic of the London-based brand are feminine, romantic dresses and separates with lots of lace, embroidery and sheer overlays which have a surprisingly appealing price point: Dresses typically fall in the $500-$600 price range. And while I honestly applaud Han Chong for wanting to create a mid-priced fashion label with lots of attention to detail, $480 is still a lot of money for a lot of people (even though I’ll admit the “Azaelea” dress pictured below looks like it’s worth every penny of it). Keep on reading to find various stylish Self-Portrait dress alternatives for much less.

Celebrities & Style Bloggers Love Self-Portrait

Celebs such as Bella Thorne, Miranda Kerr, Maisie Williams and personal style bloggers like Blair Eadie (Atlantic-Pacific), Yana (La Vie du Papillon), Julia Engel (Gal Meets Glam) and Aimee Song (Song of Style) have all been spotted wearing a Self-Portrait Azaelea Midi Lace Dress.

Aqua Lace Cami Midi Dress

Update (04/29/2016): I think I just stumbled upon the best Self-Portrait Azaelea steal find yet! Check out this lovely $148 lace midi dress by Aqua which is available in either black or light blue and is $332 cheaper than the real deal. Shhhhhh, don’t tell anyone, but Aqua has also various other great Self-Portrait look-alikes available here (e.g. this dress or this one or this one).

bebe Cotton Eyelet Dress

Update (04/28/2016): Just spotted this Self-Portrait inspired summer dress at bebe. It has obviously some major differences (e.g. different pattern and length), but the bodice clearly gives away where the inspiration for this dress came from.

LuLu*s Pinnacle of Prestige Lace Midi Dress

If you can’t afford spending half a grand on a flirty summer dress, here’s our best steal find (yet!) which I discovered at LuLu*s some time ago. And I would’ve showed you this lovely $64 lace midi dress some time ago already, but it kept selling out so fast – restock after restock – that I didn’t even have enough time to finish up this blog post before this dress was completely sold out again, so I patiently waited until it got restocked for what feels like the tenth time now and for the first time it didn’t sell out in the first 60 minutes. Yay! However, this dress is obviously still wildly popular, so I wouldn’t wait too long with buying. Who knows if it’ll be restocked for an eleventh time?

H&M Lace Dress

Another gorgeous Self-Portrait Azaelea alternative is this lace midi dress by H&M. It’s currently only available in yellow, but it does look lovely and so similar to the real deal, right? I know $129 seems oddly expensive for an H&M dress, but be rest assured, I actually ordered this dress myself and it is worth its money, the fit is flattering and the quality is good. So if you’re a fan of yellow summer dresses, this one is a great buy!

Jessica Buurman “Adice” Flower Embellished Cami Dress

Deal: Free worldwide shipping on all orders! Sign up to the Jessica Buurman newsletter and get a 10% off coupon!

And of course, where there’s a trend Jessica Buurman can’t be too far away. The design of their “Adice” dress is very close to the real deal (including the colors), but I can’t tell for sure whether it’s worth paying over $100 for, especially since I found various other dresses from similar Asian merchants for much less (see links below).

Free People South Of The Equator Midi Dress

OK, now this Self-Portrait steal find kind of irritates me. Don’t get me wrong: I love Free People and I looooove designer dupes. But what I don’t understand is how you can blatantly copy a $480 dress and then sell your own copied version for a whopping $300, thus making both dresses compete in the same price range? Now that’s a little shameless, isn’t it? Even for blatant copycats. Anyway, I still wanted to include this dress option because it does look a lot like the real deal and it is in fact still $180 cheaper than the original, so if you’re OK with paying that much money for a copycat design, feel free to do so.

Budget Look – Vacay Mode

by Irina on April 29, 2016

It’s almost May which means it’s time to start thinking summer wardrobe. The weather here has been so depressing lately that I needed some sort of fashionable pick-me-up to lighten my mood, so I started dreaming about a summer vacation in Greece or Italy and all the stylish summer outfits I could wear there. And just like that a new budget look was born! This outfit has a strong focus on fringes and ruffles, a cute and casual summer look. Do you approve?

Summer is in full swing and breezy summer dresses are the way to dress in this heat. And just how breezy is this lovely, delicate little white dress by Chloé? Sure, you’d have to tape it to your breasts if you want to avoid “wardrobe malfunctions”, but once everything is safely kept in its place, I think this dress would look fantastic on vacations, beach days and summer garden parties. Just look at how gorgeous Rosie Huntington-Whiteley looks wearing this beautiful dress (OK, Rosie would look good in anything, but still). Too bad it costs almost $2.800 which makes it absolutely unattainable for most of us fashion lovers!

I love it and am so tempted to buy this cute summer dress myself! By the way, it’s also available in petite sizing and and in a maxi dress version.

Just spotted this lovely, almost spot-on Chloé Peacock dress dupe by ONE by Honey Punch which is only $88 compared to $2.796 for the real deal. Le Salty Label x REVOLVE Mini Dress

Luckily, there’s a fantastic look for less alternative available by Le Salty Label for a much lower price of $128. Their LWD (which is also available in black) is shorter and has slightly less intricate detailing than the Chloé original, but the resemblance between both dresses is still very visible. And just in case you’re not a fan of the short length, this dress also comes in a lovely maxi dress version. Make sure to check out Le Salty Label’s whole collection, because it’s absolutely fabulous and just perfect for summer!

So I’ve already gushed in detail about the gorgeousness that is Dolce & Gabbana‘s S/S 2015 collection, but what I haven’t gushed about yet is this gorgeous floral embroidered body-con dress by House of CB which I discovered about an hour ago. I immediately had to drop everything, so I could write this blog post and share my beautiful (and budget-friendly) find with you, that’s just how excited I was about having come across this dress. House of CB has done quite the heavy copycat math on this one; somehow they managed to turn a $14.500 dress and a $7.500 skirt into a smokin’ hot $214 dress. Now that’s what I call a serious steal deal! Get this beauty of a dress before it sells out (and if you dare to wear such a racy look). Rock this frock with a bold red lip, sleek ponytail and dramatic eyeliner (hi there, Kendall!) and you’ll be the perfect Dolce & Gabbana femme fatale on a budget!

Dolce Gabbana Spring 2015 x Nasty Gal

by Irina on February 4, 2016

Dolce Gabbana‘s Spring 2015 Collection has been by far one of my absolute favorites in the last five to ten years. Now I’ve always been a huge fan of Italian design duo Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, but S/S 2015 was especially outstandingly beautiful! All of the looks were so extravagant, so feminine, so sensual, so bold! Those floral embroideries combined with delicate lace and luxurious silks? Pure heaven! But that beauty, of course, came with a price. A skirtls from that collection for example would sell for an astronomical price of $12.500, a mini dressls went for roughly $10.000. With prices that high, there wasn’t even the slightest thought of purchasing possible.

Nasty Gal does Dolce & Gabbana S/S 2015

Then a few days ago I happened to stumble upon a few pieces on Nasty Gal that somehow looked all too familiar. And after a few seconds it suddenly hit me: Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2015, of course! I mean, just look at the model’s hair and makeup! Totally obvious! The designs themselves aren’t spot-on dupes, but close enough to pretend you’re a sultry Italian duchess. Some of the pieces have already sold out of many sizes, so lightning-fast shopping is advised.
