Dolce Gabbana Spring 2015 x Nasty Gal

by Irina on February 4, 2016

Dolce Gabbana‘s Spring 2015 Collection has been by far one of my absolute favorites in the last five to ten years. Now I’ve always been a huge fan of Italian design duo Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, but S/S 2015 was especially outstandingly beautiful! All of the looks were so extravagant, so feminine, so sensual, so bold! Those floral embroideries combined with delicate lace and luxurious silks? Pure heaven! But that beauty, of course, came with a price. A skirtls from that collection for example would sell for an astronomical price of $12.500, a mini dressls went for roughly $10.000. With prices that high, there wasn’t even the slightest thought of purchasing possible.

Nasty Gal does Dolce & Gabbana S/S 2015

Then a few days ago I happened to stumble upon a few pieces on Nasty Gal that somehow looked all too familiar. And after a few seconds it suddenly hit me: Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2015, of course! I mean, just look at the model’s hair and makeup! Totally obvious! The designs themselves aren’t spot-on dupes, but close enough to pretend you’re a sultry Italian duchess. Some of the pieces have already sold out of many sizes, so lightning-fast shopping is advised.

New Year’s Eve Outfit – Black & Gold

by Irina on December 31, 2015

And here we are again. The last day of the year has come and once more it’s time to say our goodbyes to a year gone by so fast. Reflecting on the last 12 months: the good, the bad and the ugly makes me all melancholic, excited and thankful at the same time. I know it sounds super cliché, but I love New Year’s Eve, it always gives me that sense of new beginnings and endless possibilities laying ahead. That’s why I love to dress up on this special day and celebrate it champagne, heels and lots of glitter. This year I felt like going with a black and gold theme. Simple elegance combined with bold jewelry. Sexy and daring without being overly complicated, a mantra I also want to become my mindset in 2016. What’s yours?

So how HUGE was Balmain x H&M, huh? The highly anticipated designer collaboration went live online on November 5th at 8 am EST and it was only a matter of an hour until almost every item of the collection was sold out; all despite the hefty price tags (with prices set around $500-$700 for key pieces, the most expensive item peaking at $699), thus making Balmain x H&M’s collection the company’s most successful designer collaboration yet. The website continued to crash over the visitor overload all morning while eager shoppers in Seoul queued up in front of H&M stores over a week before the official collection launch. The hype surrounding this collaboration has certainly caught on to the masses and it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the collection is now selling for vastly inflated prices on eBay where some pieces are priced at twice their retail value. No word from H&M yet whether they are going to restock the highly successful collection. One of my favorite pieces from the Balmain x H&M collaboration is this gold and white embroidered black velvet mini dress. I love that it doesn’t look watered down and could easily be mistaken for a design from Balmain’s mainline collection. Now would I spend $549 on such a statement dress? Maybe. But due to the hype, I don’t even have to ask myself this question because just like all the other pieces, this beautiful frock is sold out.

Celebrities and Style Bloggers Love Balmain x H&M

Celeb sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner and style blogger Sandra Hagelstam (5 inch and up) have all been spotted wearing the black and gold Balmain x H&M Embroidered Mini Dress.

bebe Bead & Sequin Crepe Dress

If you don’t want to pay the ridiculously inflated eBay prices and can’t wait a few more months for other fast fashion companies to catch on to this hype to come up with their own inspired Balmain x H&M; look-alikes (c’mon, Forever 21!), I suggest you take a look at this beautiful beaded mini dress by bebe. I know this isn’t a spot-on dupe for the dress above and it certainly isn’t a steal at $299, but the Balmain x H&M inspiration is clearly visible on this frock in my opinion. Plus, unlike the real deal, this dress is readily available for you to buy with all sizes still in stock and all. So you can either keep on stalking eBay waiting for a miracle to happen or you can snap up this dress instead and get your own kind of Balmain party going.

Budget Look – Cozy Meets Elegant by BP.

by Irina on November 5, 2015

Today I felt like doing a new budget look after seeing so many gorgeous (and budget-friendly) fall staple pieces by BP. at Nordstrom. I didn’t follow a predetermined concept on this one, but simply put together what I thought would look great together. And if you’re an avid reader of this blog, you will easily recognize a lot of designer inspiration in many of the pieces shown below. We have some Burberry, Chanel, Isabel Marant and Michael Kors inspirations going on in this look. So what do you think? Did I do a good job on this one? Can you see yourself wearing this outfit?

Summer is in full swing and breezy summer dresses are the way to dress in this heat. And just how breezy is this lovely, delicate little white dress by Chloé? Sure, you’d have to tape it to your breasts if you want to avoid “wardrobe malfunctions”, but once everything is safely kept in its place, I think this dress would look fantastic on vacations, beach days and summer garden parties. Just look at how gorgeous Rosie Huntington-Whiteley looks wearing this beautiful dress (OK, Rosie would look good in anything, but still). Too bad it costs almost $2.800 which makes it absolutely unattainable for most of us fashion lovers!

Update (09/04/2015): Awesome steal deal alert, everyone! Just spotted this lovely, almost spot-on Chloé Peacock dress dupe by ONE by Honey Punch which is only $88 compared to $2.796 for the real deal. Sizes are starting to sell out, so you better be fast if you’re in love with this dress and want the Chloé look for less.

Le Salty Label x REVOLVE Mini Dress

Luckily, there’s a fantastic look for less alternative available by Le Salty Label for a much lower price of $128. Their LWD (which is also available in black) is shorter and has slightly less intricate detailing than the Chloé original, but the resemblance between both dresses is still very visible. And just in case you’re not a fan of the short length, this dress also comes in a lovely maxi dress version. Make sure to check out Le Salty Label’s whole collection, because it’s absolutely fabulous and just perfect for summer!
