Obsession of the Day – Blush Beauty

by Irina on June 14, 2015

Lately, I’ve been obsessed with soft, flesh-toned colors such as blush pink. There’s something so quintessentially feminine about that color that makes me want to turn my wardrobe into an altar for everything blush. So when I happened to come across this gorgeous nude-colored draped jersey skirt by Rachel Pally, I simply had to create a blush-toned look around it. I went full on matchy-matchy with this outfit which might be a bit too much for some, but I totally love it. Do you?

Can you believe half of the year has almost already gone by? Time flies, my friends, and summer has officially arrived – at least in our calendars! In order to celebrate the seasonal change, I created my first 2015 summer budget look to properly welcome the season of pool parties, BBQs, tan lines and cool drinks. For this look I took to the summer sky as my source of inspiration: baby blue with a little bit of cloudy white here and there and splashes of summery yellow everywhere in between.

When scouring the big interwebs for designer dupes I automatically stumble upon many great budget finds that aren’t designer-inspired (or at least not that I would notice) and hence don’t get the same attention and love on this blog as the steal finds which, of course, is a shame. That’s why I like to occasionally highlight my favorite budget finds from time to time. ‘Nuff said, enjoy my list and let me know if you have any must-have adds of your own.

I always say that the awesomeness of an article of clothing can be judged by how many talented stylists pull it for their clients to wear. If we go by my thought then the Dolce & Gabbana corset dress is something everyone should run out and buy. Was. Was something we should’ve bought. If you weren’t lucky enough to snag one last spring, it is unfortunately sold out, but read on…

bebe Hook & Eye Detail Dress

UPDATE (05/26/2015): When I spotted this beautiful strapless pencil dress by bebe I instantly thought of the Dolce & Gabbana corset dress above and thought it would serve as a nice look 4 less alternative. Also available in petite sizes.

GUESS by Marciano Carmella Corset Dress

For those of you that are subscribing to my above style tip, or perhaps you just love the dress, GUESS by Marciano has created their own version of it. The Carmella dress is slightly more form-fitting, but still features the decorative vertical seams. This detailing is supposed to mimic boning and is extremely figure flattering. Carmella is a ton more affordable and conveniently available now in either white or gold.

There was a time, somewhere around 2007-2008 I think, when Hervé Léger‘s bandage dresses were all the rage. Back then you could point your finger to any red carpet event and there was at least one celebrity, no matter whether A- or D-list, who was wearing one of the brand’s bodycon banded pencil dresses. However, people got tired of wearing (and seeing) the overtly sexy dresses eventually and slowly but steadily Hervé Léger vanished from the red carpet radar. But now that the hype has died down, my admiration for the brand’s iconic pieces returned. And this gorgeous cobalt blue cap sleeve bandage pencil dress had me at cobalt blue. Now isn’t this a stunning dress? So elegant and timeless; hugging your curves in all the right places while the vibrant color will make you the center of attention at any cocktail party. If just it weren’t for the price tag…

ASOS SCULPT Bandage Midi Dress With Gold Bar Belt

Now imagine my delight when I stumbled upon this beautiful Hervé Léger look-alike bandage dress at ASOS a few days ago! It may not be an identical dupe match, but the inspiration behind this dress is more than obvious. I loooove that ASOS kept the vibrant blue color, but I’m not too keen on the gold bar belt to be honest. But still, this dress is probably the closest you can get when looking for Hervé Léger chic on a budget at the moment.
