Olivia Palermo

I love looking at pictures of Olivia Palermo because seeing what she wears on a day-to-day basis has become a sheer inexhaustible source of style inspiration for myself! I really thought I’d get bored with Olivia’s style after a while, but she somehow manages to keep me interested by constantly wearing effortless seeming outfits that look both interesting and unexpected, but yet elegant and chic as well. Last September, for example, Olivia stepped out in a fab colorblock sheath which she accessorized with a black clutch and striped heels. And surprisingly, this dress did not come out of some expensive designer boutique, but it was a very accessible dress from a limited edition collection which Narciso Rodriguez designed for DesigNation for Kohl’s. And this very same dress is currently on sale for the amazingly low price of $25.60!

Olivia Palermo always looks fabulous and this look is no exception. I just love the way she paired two bold jewel tones (emerald and citrine) and made them look fantastic together. If I had to guess, I’d say the secret is the neutral basics she wore with them. The soft charcoal grey sweater softens the overall look and her handbag and accessories all compliment her skin and hair color. And then instead of the usual jewelry (like earrings or a necklace) she went for the unexpected brooches worn on her blazer’s collar. Vintage pieces like these are actually not very hard to find these days, with flea markets and antiques turning up many fun sparklers for just a few dollars. Of course, you can always get creative and repurpose some 1950’s shoe clips or clip-on earrings into a whole new look! The only thing left to finish off the outfit is some sassy red nail polish and a gold bracelet and watch. Ready to try it for yourself? Have fun shopping our awesome steals below!

Christian Louboutin, you’ve done it again! Never have I ever seen a shoe as unique as this look so good on this many celebrities! While I’m partial to the yellow dress/black coat ensemble worn by Irina Shayk and Brandy’s crisp white pants and jacket duo, it looks absolutely stunning on every figure pictured below; and what is better than a platform that is incredibly stylish, eye-catching, and versatile? Not much! So what does this all mean? These will look amazing on you as well! Granted, this pair is sold out and priced well above most of our shoe budgets, but you can definitely get the same look with our help. Check out our fabulous steal further down the page and tell us what you think.

Boutique 9 “Nerissa” Suede Platform Sandals

Aren’t they sensational? This style by Boutique 9 is a mix of old Hollywood and a steamy Argentine tango. The peep-toe is a bit larger, and the color more red than plum when compared to the original version, but they would still look beautiful with any silhouette and match a variety of darker palettes. I’m thinking perhaps a dark grey suit would be just the thing. To channel an undoubtedly glamorous look, try pairing them with a beautiful shawl-collar jacket with a fabulous matching trumpet skirt. Then simply add a classic matte red lip and glossy hair and you’re all set. (For even more versatility, be sure to check them out in purple and blue suede as well!)

This delightfully whimsical pair of earrings by Prada remind me of a time when glitter and sparkle were the two best ways to describe my wardrobe and jewelry collection. I remember my treasure trove was filled with pieces I borrowed from my grandmother, as well as the vintage finds I gathered along the way. It’s really quite remarkable to witness fashion making a full circle at last. While reinvention doesn’t quite mean we should recreate your entire wardrobe from the 80’s and 90’s, it does give us the opportunity to have fun with nostalgic looks without looking like we stepped out of a time machine. Considering the instant popularity of this pair, it seems it isn’t just me who wants to play dress up. Of course the fact they are sold out shouldn’t stop you from reliving the memories. You can still buy a very similar pair thanks to one of our readers! Check out what she found below…
