Real vs. Steal – Gucci Kills Peep-toe Platform Booties
UPDATE: This post has been updated on January 15, 2010. Scroll down to see the new adds.
I never wrote that much about Gucci clothes or shoes before because basically I never cared about their line nor did it ever appeal to me. This season however their women’s footwear range is just mindblowing and I’m beyond obsessed with their sky-high platform high heels. So dangerous! It doesn’t come as a surprise that the name of these platform peep-toe booties is “Kills” because whoa! they’re definitely KILLER! You know what kills me besides? Their price tag. $990 aren’t exactly pocket change.

Steve Madden “BELINA” Platform Booties
Thank God for Steve Madden who once more proves with these Gucci knockoffs that he’s still on top of the copycat game. If you crave these booties as much as I do, make sure to take advantage of the sale and these booties will cost you $59.98 only instead of the regular $120. Most sizes are still available!

Real vs. Steal – Frye Veronica Slouch Boots
Let’s be honest. When it comes to shoe shopping 9 out of 10 times when we freak out about a pair and start squealing “Oh my God! These are to-die-for!“, it’s about those gorgeous, embellished, satin peep-toe stilettos also known as the shoes we almost never wear because a) they’re too high b) not appropriate for everyday wear or c) just too precious to be worn (I mean, you don’t want to risk getting them scuffed, dusty or rained on, right?).
Don’t get me wrong: I LOVE my sky-high pink stiletto sandals with all my heart, but whenever I storm out the door I most probably am not wearing these. So, last year, I wanted to be reasonable for once and thus forced myself to get me some comfortable boots. Surprisingly, I went home with 2 beautiful pairs. Both were very similar to Frye’s Veronica boots below and I just can’t tell you how much I love them. They’re extremely comfortable, keep me warm during winter AND look super stylish. One of the best purchases I’ve ever made. I get so much wear out of these.

Steve Madden “VERONNA” Buckle Boots
I discovered these Steve Madden boots via The Look 4 Less and thought they’d make a wonderful budget-friendly option if you can’t afford the real deal. The style is almost identical and even the name of the boots sounds similar to Frye’s. The boots are currently marked down to $99.95 (was $159.95) and they come in either black, brown or brown distressed.

Real vs. Steal – Azzedine Alaïa Zip Detail Ankle Boots
These zippered boots by Azzedine Alaïa are so fierce. I adore them! Zippers are very much on trend right now (as are buckles) and you can’t walk into a shoe store without seeing Balmain look-a-like boots pop out of everywhere. That’s why it’s so refreshing to see a zipper boot being NOT inspired by Balmain. I really like the idea of having the freedom to either zip it up when it’s cold or leave it open when it’s warm outside (or if you just had a pedicure and want to show off). However, the price of £1.135 (~$1.860) leaves a lot to be desired.

Jeffrey Campbell “Ga Ga” Zipper Sandals
Thanks to Jeffrey Campbell you can get an almost identical look of the Azzedine Alaïa zipper boots for 1/10 of the price. Apart from the matte leather and the rounder heel I can’t really a difference between these two. Gotta love JC!

Real vs. Steal – Christian Louboutin Dillian Pumps
UPDATE: This post has been updated on November 25, 2009. Scroll down to see the new add.
Christian Louboutin’s “Dillian” pumps were designed for 3.1 Phillip Lim’s Spring 2009 collection. I love the shape of the pumps, but the big petal/ruffle thing on the front makes me rather hesitant as it’s so big it could easily drown your feet. Still loving them? If you have about 2k of spare cash, you’re good to go.

Scary price, no? However, if you’re not afraid of ruffles and want heels in the style of the Louboutins, this is your chance to satisfy your budget-friendly designer shoe dreams. Dollhouse’s “Soleil” or “Soliel” Mary Jane pumps are almost identical, even the ginormous petal on the front is spot on. The pumps come either in black or purple.

Celebrity Look 4 Less – Blair Waldorf in Hervé Léger
UPDATE: This post has been updated on September 27, 2009. Scroll down to see the new adds.
In one of Gossip Girl’s episodes called “The Grandfather“, Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) wore an unusually sexy, figure-hugging Hervé Léger bandage mini dress with white criss cross inlays. However, Blair’s risqué dress was tamed with a cute beige embellished Joie cardigan and a cute nautical Tomassini necklace.

Covet the body-con dress, but don’t have a $2.000/dress budget? You’re in luck because this strapless taffeta dress by Jessica McClintock is a great budget-friendly Hervé Léger alternative. The dress may be black instead of navy, but otherwise it has the same length, cut and detailing. It’s also currently on sale being marked down from $150 to $90. Who else smells a great deal here?

Designer Fashion 4 Less – Bill Blass Flamenco Backless Blouse
I remember falling in love with this Bill Blass ruffle blouse sometime last year. The soft silk, the flattering color and the perfectly shaped ruffles were simply to die for! Most things on my wish list are either shoes or dresses, but this blouse made me swoon and shooted straight up on no. 1. However, I quickly learned that everything comes at a price… and this one was as high as $1.990.

Leighton Meester wore the Bill Blass blouse (though I think hers was a modified version because it had more and smaller ruffles) in an episode of Gossip Girl while Rihanna wore it on the InStyle cover of the August 2008 issue.

Bebe Ruffle & Rosette Bloom Halter Top
I think it’s beyond debate that Bebe’s interpretation of the Bill Blass blouse doesn’t even come close to the superb quality of the original, but if you are all about frills and ruffles this ruffled top might fit your bill as the overall look resembles the Bill Blass original. Also available in black, white and tea rose.

I’m a sucker for white dresses. They are just perfect for summer and you’ll get an instant mood lift just from looking at them. When I first discovered this Marc by Marc Jacobs tiered halterneck dress I was madly in love.

We all first saw this dress on Blair Waldorf (aka Leighton Meester) in an episode of Gossip Girl called “Summer Kind Of Wonderful“. Leighton looked absolutely amazing and until today this look belongs in my top 3 of all her Gossip Girl outfits. Paris Hilton came second and British soap star Emma Rigby has worn this beautiful dress as well.

BB Dakota “The Sassy Dress”
I’v been looking for ages to find a knockoff dress of the Joelle dress and finally found it then on The Look 4 Less, but at the time I tried to place my order, it was already sold out. However, weeks later I now found the same dress on Karmaloop for $75. The BB Dakota knockoff dress might be missing the cute front-bow, but otherwise both dresses are practically identical.

Designer Fashion 4 Less – YSL Spring 2008 V-Cut Dress
This little black dress by Yves Saint Laurent from the Spring 2008 collection is a classic LBD and every woman should have at least one in her closet because it is a versatile basic you can wear very often. Shelling out about $2.7k for a simple dress however is pretty offputting, isn’t it?

The YSL dress has been a coveted piece among the rich and famous, too. It has been worn by celebrities countless times, Kristin Scott Thomas liked the dress so much, she wore it even twice.

Bebe Bustier Flounce Dress
Bebe is king when it comes to knockoffs lately. This strapless v-cut pencil dress is a great alternative to the pricey original. It’s a bit shorter than the YSL dress and has an asymmetric side drape which falls to the side of the skirt, but other than that both dresses are pretty much the same.

I couldn’t forget these black suede cutout Louboutin booties ever since I first saw them presented along with Roland Mouret’s Fall 2009 collection. I instantly fell in love and was sure these ankle boots would take off in editorials and on the red carpet equally since they are so endlessly chic and far away from being your average generic ankle boot with their sexy nude mesh cutouts.
