So I think this is the first time, after more than 3 years of writing this blog, that I feature a sneaker here on In Their Closet. Of course, it couldn’t be just any ordinary sneaker for this occasion, no, it had to be a “fashion sneaker” naturally, the most popular one being the “Bekket” velcro sneaker by Madame Isabel Marant at this time. Personally, I both like and hate them; I’ve never been too fond of sporty looking shoes, but these exude that cool kid vibe and how clever is the hidden built-in wedge? Genius.

It’s been a while since I last really saw a great caged heel, but give it to Christian Louboutin to make you fall in love with shoes again. Not that I’ve ever been out of love. Because, seriously, SHOES! Which girl could not go all crazy on them? You know what else is driving me crazy? The astronomical price of these heels – $1.495. Bummer!

N.Y.L.A. “Sianne” Platform Sandals
N.Y.L.A. sure is riding the Louboutin wave back right now, huh? First they made this amazing “Clou Noeud” knockoff and now they have this almost identical look-a-like of the Larissa Plato. Not available in suede and not quite as polished as the original, but still a great budget-friendly alternative. Available in black and nude leather as well as gold glitter.

Doesn’t it seem like everyone—and everything—named Fernando is just drop dead gorgeous? Gaga may not want to be your babe, Fernando, but I sure the hell do, especially since your last name is Louboutin. Really, does Christian Louboutin make anything but spectacular shoes with equally spectacular price tags?

Anne Michelle CULPRIT-02 Sandals
Maybe Fernando has you all hot-and-bothered too, but at more than eight bills, it’s likely that for most, Fernando will remain a figment of our fantasies. I can’t produce a red-soled twin for you, but the CULPRIT-02 Sandals by Anne Michelle are a decent stand-in. With their criss-crossed look and bootie-esque feeling, you get the same styling—and for less than $40, you could probably be rocking them with a mini as soon as next weekend. Also available in black, cognac & grey.

Pelle Moda “Lexy” Platform Sandals
And here’s another version with a bit more sparkle: the “Lexy” Platform Sandals by Pelle Moda. This pair could actually go fully formal, which might be just what you need if you have a summer of weddings and parties planned. Available in black, silver & pewter.

These black strappy sandals by Givenchy are just kick-ass. I wouldn’t necessarily wear them with a knee-length dress like Julianne Moore did below (the ankle straps cut off at a rather unflattering point leaving her look sort of stumpy), but I’d totally rock these babies with leggings, jeans or a short skirt/mini dress.

Matiko “Mel” Open-Toe Sandals
UPDATE (05/26/2010): The Michael Antonio knockoffs didn’t get too many positive reviews, so if you love the Givenchy style and are willing to spend some cash on a high quality knockoff, try these sandals by Matiko. Available in black or brown.

Michael Antonio “Tazara” Strappy Sandals
If you’re digging the style, but frown upon paying the designer price (original retail price for the Givenchys was a whopping $1.150), leave it to Michael Antonio to satisfy your shoe needs while still staying on budget. His “Tazara” strappy sandals are an identical copy of the banded Givenchy heels and they come in either black, tan, red or white. L.O.V.E.!

This little black dress by Yves Saint Laurent from the Spring 2008 collection is a classic LBD and every woman should have at least one in her closet because it is a versatile basic you can wear very often. Shelling out about $2.7k for a simple dress however is pretty offputting, isn’t it?

The YSL dress has been a coveted piece among the rich and famous, too. It has been worn by celebrities countless times, Kristin Scott Thomas liked the dress so much, she wore it even twice.

Bebe Bustier Flounce Dress
Bebe is king when it comes to knockoffs lately. This strapless v-cut pencil dress is a great alternative to the pricey original. It’s a bit shorter than the YSL dress and has an asymmetric side drape which falls to the side of the skirt, but other than that both dresses are pretty much the same.
