A trend refusing to die down is the ever-so-popular “rock chic“. Anything black, studded, buckled or wired fits perfectly into this category. Like these studded caged heels by Emilio Pucci for example. They might seem a little plain on their own, but look how amazing they look on Diane Kruger who paired them with a sexy white Hervé Léger number. Yummy!

Poor Jessica Simpson has gotten a ton of flack lately for her weight, but personally I think her body looks awesome – it’s her fashion sense that needed some work. Fortunately, she seems to have gotten into the groove of things again (and/or has a new stylist) and has been looking every inch the beauty that she is. The paparazzi caught Miss Simpson leaving the Ritz Carlton a few days ago, wearing a Stella McCartney Floral Print dress that (and I’m pretty certain about this) needs to end up in my closet for all to be right with the world. Jess paired the dress with a motorcycle jacket, a luxurious-looking, white Derek Lam bag and grey t-straps. Now let me see: I already have grey t-straps, a moto jacket and a white bag in my closet; I’m just missing the dress. Jessica, call me if you want to do a little swap-a-roo. I have a Forever 21 dress with your name on it!

You see I love Miu Miu. I just can’t help it. While I may not approve of every collection, I like that Miuccia Prada always puts you on the fence with her designs. You can tell she’s one of the few designers who REALLY think outside the box and who sometimes sacrifice aesthetics for the sake of creativity & uniqueness. This might not work out every time with me, but I do appreciate her contribution to the world of arts anyway.
Today we’re talking clogs again. Le shoe du jour! They are everywhere now. The reintroduction of the wooden clog can be mainly attributed to Karl Lagerfeld who made the Dutch footwear look très avantgarde on Chanel’s Spring 2010 runway. However, personally I prefer Miu Miu’s more playful take on the classic clog. Unlike the Chanels, Miu Miu’s studded clogs are also quite reasonably priced at about $500 whereas Chanel’s version will run you in the thousands. Of course we understand that $500 can still be too expensive for a shoe you might want to hide in the darkest corner of your closet in a year from now.

Steve Madden “MELROW” Studded Clogs
HOT DEAL: Use coupon code “SF30” to get 30% OFF your order (minimum purchase of $125 necessary). The promo code will save you an awesome $44.98 on the Steve Madden clogs! Score!
Now look at this! Steve Madden has finally caught up on the clog trend. First, he made an almost identical version of the Chanel clogs and now he’s presenting us his take on the studded slingback Miu Mius which he combined with the also big right now nude trend. Only downside? These are currently pre-order only and won’t ship until the end of May. Boo! I still wouldn’t wait too long if you dig the clog trend because a) I’m fairly sure these are going to sell out pretty quickly and b) they have this 30% OFF promotion going on right now which will save you a big chunk of cash and it could expire any day, so if you like these, head over to the site and grab ‘em now! Btw, check out Emily of Cupcakes and Cashmere rocking these Miu Miu look-a-likes (so fab!).

Azzedine Alaïa is an inspired clothes designer, but I think he’s an even better shoe designer. Devotees seem to hoard his footwear like each pair is the last. Alaïa counts many celebrities as fans but our favorite starlets seem to favor one pair of his shoes in particular: the Ankle Strap Platform Sandals. They have delightful lattice-like cut-away detailing and a 70s retro vibe. The black color is divine, of course, but the cerise has my heart (just look how great they look paired with black stockings on Miroslava Duma, below). You’ll be paying for that style, however: these sandals retail for about $660 and are sold out anyway.

GUESS “Tank” Platform Sandals
If you love the look of the Alaïas but, like me, can’t afford them, GUESS has come out with their version of the Ankle Strap Platform Sandal. Their red color appears to be more on the side of burnt orange but the lattice cut-away is dead-on, as is the adorable peep-toe. GUESS has added a T-strap to their copy, which some women might find is actually more flattering to their legs than just having an ankle-strap. These GUESS “Tank” sandals are also available in medium and dark brown as well as black and come with a reasonable price tag of $98.95.

Vince Camuto “Paula” Peep-toe Sandals
If the GUESS sandals aren’t quite doing it for you (I don’t know, maybe you hate T-straps!), we thought these Vince Camuto “Paula” sandals were also a great alternative to the Alaïas. They have the same great cut-aways (minus the perforated edges), a platform front (with triangle detailing, just like the originals) and a retro-inspired chunky heel. These will run you only slightly more than the GUESS sandals, which is to say a helluva lot less than the Azzedine Alaïas.
