I loved, loved, loved Yves Saint Laurent’s Spring 2009 collection. Every single piece was bold and fabulous and I adored the caged heels that were presented on the runway.

Celebrities & YSL Spring 2009 Caged Heels
Unfortunately, the caged heels have long been ignored by the celebrity world, but the trend has picked up slowly since last month. Tilda was the first who was fearless enough to sport them on the red carpet. Ciara and Becki Newton followed shortly after.

Luichiny Star Bound Sandal
This YSL knockoff from Luichiny is not quite as extravagant as the original. You can see the shoe has been mainstreamed (bootie length, heel, open-toe), but it’s still a great alternative to YSL for a fraction of the price. Other available color options are silver and bronze.

Bakers Ashton Caged Heel
If you want to save some more bucks, try this YSL alternative from Bakers. It’s quite the same as the Luichiny knockoff and also comes in either black, silver or bronze.

When we’re talking about popular shoes of 2008, the ones from Balenciaga’s Fall 2008 collection certainly fall into this category. Designed by Pierre Hardy for Balenciaga, the futuristic pointy heels have fast become a fashion staple in various celebrity closets.

Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker wore her Balenciaga booties to various events with everything from a classic Chanel tweedsuit to an edgy rock-chick Balmain ripped minidress. Singer Ciara couldn’t resist as well.

Other celebrities such as Victoria Beckham and Heidi Klum have incorporated the stiletto counterpart of the Balenciaga bootie into their red carpet ensembles.
If you can’t afford the $360 (sale price) for the real deal, you might want to give Luichiny’s Lorelei ankle bootie a chance to wow you.
Luichiny Lorelei Ankle Bootie
The Lorelei ankle bootie is almost identical with the Balenciaga bootie and also comes in bronze, but I prefer it much more in silver/black.
