Obsession of the Day – GoJane Scarves

by Irina on March 12, 2011

HOT DEAL: Use coupon code “SPRING25R” to get 25% OFF regular priced styles.

I’ve never been a big fan of scarves until a few months ago when I realized they’re the easiest and most often also the cheapest way to spice up one’s day-to-day outfits that tend to be on the boring side like jeans and a sweater/cardigan. That’s why I did some serious scarf shopping last year and now I have a nice and varied selection of beautiful scarves to add to an otherwise bland or boring outfit. GoJane‘s newest arrivals contain a large selection of fabulous scarves and since they’re all around the $10-$15 price range (even less if you use the promo code above, expires 03/17), you should feel free to grab more than just one or two. My personal favorite/recommendation would have to be #5; I recently bought a leopard print scarf by Warehouse for around $30 and haven’t been able to NOT wear it out ever since. Best accessory buy so far!

LA girl Kristin Cavallari was recently papped leaving a restaurant in a biker-inspired ensemble. She was wearing the mandatory “all-cool-kids-do-it” Ray-Ban Wayfarer sunnies, a black A.L.C. leather jacket, leggings and matching black Coach biker boots. I like how Kristin de-masculinized her outfit by adding some color in the form of her tan Alexander Wang hobo and the red Nepali Bambi Bobi Scarfcj ($90). See our budget-friendly take on Kristin’s look below!

How cute is Dakota Fanning? Just too cute for words and so is her outfit! I must admit, I love leopard print and I love the fact that young Ms. Fanning, has developed a style all her own. She manages to mix 4 styles seamlessly. A little punk-boots and black tights, some school girl with an a-line mini skirt, old Hollywood retro sunglasses and a touch of glam with the leopard print jacket. From North Dakota (her head) to South Dakota (her feet), I think this is a perfect overall look for a young starlet!

Lately, because of the meteoric rise of Mad Men and Christina Hendricks, ’60s fashion has been pushed heavily for fall 2010. But really, if I had to choose a bygone era that easily translates for now, I’d have to go with the ’70s. ’70s style was all flares and flowing fabrics, natural hair, and platforms—and and it didn’t just look comfy—it was. That’s probably why Claudia Schiffer’s ’70s-style ensemble looks so chic now. Layers and textures add interest, but it’s a simple, easy-to-emulate look. For virtually everybody.
