Alright, let’s just get right down to it, shall we? Everybody needs a trench in their closet. Everyone. That means you. I wasn’t a believer until I started wearing one myself, but I am here to tell you that they go with everything. They look simple and chic over jeans and classic and sexy over dresses. They can be worn over sweaters in the cooler months and worn over tanks in the warmer months. They are versatile and timeless, sophisticated and demure. Need I say more? Of course, there are tons of trenches out there and like pizza, despite what some people say, not every slice (or trench) is made equal. This Burberry Double Breasted Trench is probably about as good as it gets. Exquisitely cut with just enough detailing, I’m going to out on a limb here and say this could be the trench to end all trenches. But excuse me while I wipe away a tear… this coat retails for over $1.000.

Another thing you should probably be aware of, is that I actually placed my own order for this coat before sitting down to write this entry. Yes, I was scared you all would buy out all the stock. These amazing platforms are from Charles Anastase‘s S/S 2009 show but I guess I’m a little behind the curve because I only just discovered them. While I can’t imagine anyone actually wearing them (how did the models not break their necks strutting down the runway?) I do find them aesthetically pleasing. If only that heel was just a little shorter and I think we would have ourselves a winner.

We’ve featured quite a number of Christian Louboutin shoes here on InTheirCloset and I think that’s because, other than being extremely popular with our readers, they are also what I would classify as “classic”. Louboutin pumps range from demure to over the top but almost all of them feel timeless. CL’s “Claudia” ankle-strap sandals are no exception. They are simply a new take on a tried and true shoe. A couple of months back we did a post on Camilla Belle’s gorgeous Max Azria Silk mini dress, but at the time we didn’t have a steal version for you lovely folks. I gushed over the color and the shape, the ruffle, the slit, and how perfect it all was for summer. One thing not so worship-worthy was and is the price. You know how I know we’re good? Because we never forget a shoe. Or a handbag. Or a face. OK, so not the last one. Back in the old days (you know, 2005) the fashion world saw the introduction to the “It Bag” – a bag that became every starlet’s must have accessory. One day, readers (stay with me), Mary Kate Olsen was spotted carrying a gorgeous black, studded bag that no one could identify but that everyone immediately wanted. I have to be honest, the last time I shopped at Wet Seal I was looking for something to wear to the school dance (in other words, it was 1998), but by golly perhaps Wet Seal deserves another look!
