Real vs. Steal – Alexander Wang Carrington Woven Booties

So, it’s Alexander Wang again, huh? Still love him. His Fall 2009 collection didn’t found me overly excited, but the Spring 2009 collection was a total success in my book. There wasn’t one single piece I didn’t like or not wanted in my closet right away. The shoes from this spring collection were kick-ass. Wang’s chunky platform booties sure aren’t for the faint of heart. I mean, can you imagine walking in these without breaking your ankles? I probably wouldn’t even make it out of the house (still doesn’t mean I don’t want to own them though).

Wet Seal Woven Peep-toe Booties

Update (05/08/2010): Just stumbled upon this Alexander Wang inspired cheap thrill by Wet Seal. The designer inspired platform booties have been visibly streamlined, but overall I still like the design and the price. What do you think?

bebe “Laura” Woven Peep-toe Booties

Update (01/15/2010): Yay! Another great (and sky-high) alternative are these woven booties by bebe. They are very similar to the Carrington ankle boot except the Bebe version has an open back and a lower platform. Available in black and white.

Steve Madden “MASSIVVE” Platform Booties

I think I already mentioned that one has to give credit to Steve Madden for fearlessly copying designer shoes and NOT toning them down like many other copycats do. These ankle boots below are a good example. While they aren’t a 100% exact replica of the Alexander Wang booties, I like that they kept the chunky platform and sky high heel to preserve the original raw and urban look.
