Real vs. Steal – Alexander Wang Liu Open Toe Sandals

by Irina on August 23, 2012

With Alexander Wang it’s always hit and miss for me. One season I’m all over his designs, the next one I might find myself asking WTH? – Luckily, A/W 2011 was a good season for reinstating my good faith in Alex’ design skills. There were many shoes I liked from the collection including these shield-like high heeled open toe sandals named after Liu Wen (Wang names all of his shoes after one of his model muses).

So prior to writing this post I did a quick research on who Angelica Blick is. Turns out she is a well-known Swedish fashion blogger who collaberated with Nelly to bring out her “own” capsule collection. I wonder how much she was involved in the design process though; often times celebrities just lend their name to something and have no creative control over their projects. Anyway, as you can see her “Knight Shoes” look almost exactly like Alexander Wang’s Liu heels. They have a few slight modifications, but it’s quite obvious where the inspiration came from.
